STORIES / Gallery 3: Fulgenci Shoe Repair, 2013

I drove past the Fulgenci shoe repair shop and had a feeling there was more to it than what I could see from the street. I walked in and introduced myself, showed Mr. Fulgenci my photos, and bluntly asked if I could take a look behind the wooden wall that separated the shop from the counter. The back of the shop reminded me of a morgue, each label identifying the shoe with its owner. I asked if he could turn on the TV to add more feel to the place, and he did. It took about ten minutes for the tubes to warm up, but it worked fine. He was proud of having seen the 2010 World Cup on that old television.25 de Mayo, Buenos Aires Province
